Black Stars head coach, Otto Addo has stated that Abdul Mumin was unlucky to commit the error that cost Ghana a defeat against Angola.
Abdul Mumin failed clearance in the box and fell in the path of Milson who slotted home from close range to give Angola a late win on Thursday, September 05, 2024.
Speaking after the disappointing loss, Otto Addo admitted that his team made a lot of mistakes, but he also pointed out that the awful state of the pitch contributed to the team's lacklustre performance.
"It was unlucky for Mumin, but we made some errors even before that situation. But the pitch was not good, and we can’t overlook that," he said.
Ghana began the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers with a 0-1 home defeat at the Baba Yara Stadium. This was the team's first loss in 24 years at the venue.
They will be hoping to get back to winning ways in their second group game against Niger on Monday, September 9.
Following the win, Angola sit top of the group tied on point with Sudan who beat Niger in their opening game. Ghana are at the bottom.
