Conveners of the #StopGalamseyNow protest have hinted at using the Black Stars' game against Sudan in Accra to intensify the pressure on the government to take decisive action against illegal mining activities in the country.

The protesters are expected to be in attendance when Ghana hosts Sudan in the 2025 AFCON qualifiers' third-round fixture on Thursday, October 10, 2024, at the Accra Sports Stadium.

In a post on X, Ghanaian influencer and one of the conveners, Joshua Boye-Doe, also known as Kaly Jay, suggested that people protest at the game.

"Black Stars have a game this week. Are we thinking about the same thing?" he tweeted.

Several individuals agreed with the idea and encouraged all protesters to attend the match with their placards, while others recommended using banners instead.

#StopGalamseyNow was a 3-day protest organized by a group of Ghanaians who are aggrieved by the destruction of water bodies through illegal mining activities. The demonstration spanned from October 3 to October 5, 2024.

The protesters shared their concerns and called on the government to take decisive actions to resolve the issue.
