The Black Stars have advanced to the second position in the ongoing 2026 World Cup qualifying games.

On Thursday night in Bamako, Ghana secured a hard-fought victory over Mali in the matchday three games at the Stade de 26 Mars.

Kamory Doumbia broke the deadlock in the 45th minute, ending the first half 1-0 in favor of the home side.

However, after the break, Ghana scored twice through Ernest Nuamah and Jordan Ayew to clinch the all-important three points for Otto Addo and his team.

The win has elevated the Black Stars to the second spot with six points, while Comoros continues to hold the top spot in Group I, also with six points but with a better goal difference.

This victory marks Ghana's first away win since 2022.

The Black Stars will now gear up for the matchday four games against the Central African Republic on June 10 at the Baba Yara Stadium.

The four-time African champions are striving to secure qualification for the Mundial, which is scheduled to be hosted by the USA, Canada, and Mexico.
