43rd SWAG Awards Night: Armwrestling bags two awards

The 43rd SWAG Awards was held on Friday 4th May 2018 at the International Conference Center in Accra.

The SWAG Awards is an annual award ceremony that recognizes people for their diverse roles towards the development of sports in the country.

Ghanian athletes who excelled in the year 2017 were honoured for making Ghana proud in their respective discipline.

Two members of the national armwrestling team, Golden Arms were honoured for their exploits in 2018.

Haruna Tahiru who won two gold medals at last year's Africa Armwrestling Championship in Nigeria was named the Para-Athlete of the Year while his colleague Isaac Nii Amugi was crowned the Discovery of the Year.

Newly crowned WBO world super bantamweight champion Isaac Dogboe won two awards – he won the ultimate award, Sports Personality of the Year and also Professional Boxer of the Year.

Thomas Abbey claimed the home-Based Player of the Year Award, while Thomas Partey won the Male Footballer of the Year
