The Technical Committee of the Handball Association of Ghana (HAG) has invited 47 players in preparation for the qualification to the 8th All African Games scheduled for Nigeria next year.
The team is made up of 24 men and 23 women who have already been invited to start a non-residential camping.
A statement signed by Saka Acquaye , Secretary General of HAG, said the training, scheduled for the Prisons Sports Complex from Monday November 4, will be under the guidance of coach George Bankole from the Volta Region for the men, while Inspector Angelina Shang handles the women with Chief Officer Isaac Bruce in assistance.
He said Mr Gabriel Missodey of the Northern Regional Sports Council will be the Technical Head of both teams while Madam Christiana Dodoo of the Women Sports Association of Ghana acts as the chaperon.
It would be recalled that Ghana placed first at the last Zone Three eliminator for the same event held four years ago in Johannesburg, South Africa, before winning the bronze in the actual games.
The statement said the door is not totally shut on players who have not been invited since players who excel during the up-coming 5th Franco-Ghanaian National Handball Championship scheduled for Accra in November could be invited.
The selected players for the men are Richard Ankrah, Daniel Quarcoo, Solomon Adam, Osei Yaw Christian, Robert Ankrah, Ebenezer Mensah, Moses Quartey, Theophilus Sododi, Yusif Fudu, Joseph Quaye and Fuseini Bakari.
Others are Anthony Odametey, Eugene Ahoni, Francis Asare, Patrick Amanfi, Samuel Agyare, Salifu Mahama, Isaac Bampoe, Alex Asare, Jude Bonney, Emmanuel Amoafo and Robert Sampah.
