5 things we learned from Ghana Premier League match week 13

Asante Kotoko SC Asante Kotoko SC

Matchday 13 of the ongoing Ghana Premier League was honoured across all match venues from Friday through to Sunday with Legon Cities finishing the week with the biggest victory.

This week 13 round of matches recorded 15 goals, which is one of the least number of goals recorded in the league and also became the only week that Kumasi King Faisal didn't concede a goal.

GhanaWeb.com looks at 5 things learned from this weekend’s round of matches.

Home invincibility

Asante Kotoko became the only away team in week 13 to record a win as Medeama SC, Ashgold and Hearts of Oak all managed to pick just a point on the road against King Faisal, Aduana Stars and Inter Allies respectively.

William Opoku Mensah's first-half strike gave the Porcupines their second successive win after their FA Cup round of 64 exit at the hands of Asokwa Deportivo at the Obuasi Len Clay Stadium.

63rd Independence Day anniversary gift

Legon Cities FC celebrated the 6th March anniversary in a grand style after thrashing West African Football Academy (WAFA) 4-1 at the Accra Sports Stadium on Friday evening.

The Royals ended their winless streak in the league with a brace from Cephas Doku and goals from Ebenezer Nii Addy and Fafali Yusif while Sampson Agyapong got a consolation goal for WAFA.

The win which was their third of the season has taken their tally from 13-16 points after match week 13.

Nii Odoom not finding the antidote to Hearts problems

Hearts of Oak has once again failed to close up the gap on the league leaders following their 1-1 draw with Inter Allies at the Accra Sports Stadium after Mohammed Alhassan cancelled Samuel Armah's first half tap in from Victorien Adebayor's carpet cross.

Hearts of Oak has now recorded three successive drawn games against Karela United, Elmina Sharks and now Inter Allies which has put them at pair with Bechem United and Eleven Wonders on 18 points.

Coach Nii Odoom after yesterday’s game told the press that he is worried about the current trend in his team and wish that things will turn around in the shortest possible time.

Adebayor makes headlines again

Victorien Adebayor was trending number one on twitter for his beautiful display in their 1-1 draw game with Hearts of Oak.

He outpowered Raddy Ovouka and Mohammed Alhassan of Hearts of Oak to assist Samuel Armah for Inter Allies first goal.

Though the Nigerien didn't score yesterday, the skill and power he exhibited in the game won him many admirations in the media as many football fans wished that he was a Ghanaian.

King Faisal keeps first clean sheet

Alhaji Grusah’s King Faisal Babies kept their first clean sheet of the season following their goalless drawn game against Medeama Sporting Club at the Obuasi Len Clay Sports Stadium.

After conceding the highest number of goals,27 and preventing a free-scoring Medeama SC from scoring everything shows that coach Slavisa Bozicic is gradually solving his leaking defense problems.

Though they still lie bottom on the Premier League King Faisal are now 6 points away from the relegation zone and a good defensive organization can cement their place in the league.
