Dr Kofi Amoah, Chairman of Ghana?s 2008 CAN Did Committee last Monday presented ?50 million to the Ghana Olympic Committee at a ceremony in Accra.The donation was in fulfilment of a pledge Dr Amoah made three weeks ago at a GOC fund-raising ceremony.
He said the gesture was to boost the morale of Ghana?s contingent to the upcoming Summer games in Athens, Greece. Mr B. T. Baba, President of GOC who received the cheque thanked Dr Amoah for his gesture and exhorted other bodies and individuals to emulate it.
Mr Baba said as far as he could remember, the amount is the highest to be donated by an individual to the Olympic Committee.He gave the assurance that the money would be put to the use for which it is intended.
