Public Relations Officer of Ghana Premier League side Elmina Sharks, Anthony Sedenam has stated that the 65 percent reduction of their players’ April salaries was only a transactional error.

About a week ago, players of Elmina Sharks through their head coach Yaw Acheampong petitioned the club's management after they noticed a 65 percent deduction from their salaries though they had not had such an arrangement with the club.

Explaining the issue and what transpired, the clubs PRO Anthony Sedenam said there were certain discrepancies from their bankers and the club’s accounting department during the payment of the salaries which resulted in the alleged pay cuts.

Speaking to www.ghanaweb.com, he assured the players that the management of the club hasn't taken any decision to slash player salaries, adding that the situation has been resolved and the remainder of their salaries should reflect in the various bank accounts by now.

“Management hasn’t taken any decision to slash player salaries. There is no truth in those speculations. We[Management] got the alert from the head coach that some players are complaining about 65% slash on their salaries. We quickly got in touch with the accounts department to find out what had happened.

“After our accounts department called the bank, they told us[management] that there was a discrepancy, so we instructed them to do everything possible to rectify the situation. According to the bank, those rectifications have been done so they should check their account and get back to them. It was a transactional problem between our accounting department and the bank.

“The team has not decided or taken any decision to cut any player’s salary, whatever is due to the players is what we are giving them,” he concluded.
