A-Z OF 2007 – 2008 Footbal Season

THE INTERESTING A-Z OF 2007 – 2008 FOOTBALL SEASON

A. Asante Kotoko started the season as first in everything. Their Recruitment and preparation was the best and were first at the end of the season. This goes to prove that with proper planning you can be first or among the best. Bravo A/K

B. Berekum Arsenal. Almost all teams that visited Berekum Complained about intimidation, yet there was no evidence to nail them and put them away from “The Golden win at all cost park” some ninja tactics in play.

C. Charles Taylor, the earlier he changed that name, the better for him. There is always controversy around the name.

D. Douglas Nkrumah, was he playing in the league? I don’t think so. Is it the team you play that make you who you are or what? Jack where are you?

E. Eric Bekoe, he was described by Tactical Talkative Opele as Ghana ’s Van Nesteroy yet he never made it in his best 11 of the season. Strange. He added some spark to the season. Hope he stays for year and learn from the Businessman Opoku Afriyie.

F. Feyenoord Academy. They did not take part in the premiership yet their impact was all over the place. Hope the rest of the clubs will learn a lesson. Harrison Afful, Jordan Opoku, Adiyah etc.

G. The only significant project the Ghana football Association executed well was the extension of their mandate. They should learn to extend the contracts of our local coaches they employ. ( if they even have a contract in the first place).

H. There were two Hearts in the league, that of the lion and the Oak tree (Ever seen a tree with a heart) No doubt that of the Lion roared and the Oak tree was nearly used as a furniture.

I. Ishmael Addo is this “the beginning of the end?” Did he register as a player or as a fan.

J. President J.A. Kuffour Cup. Planned by Friends of the President organized by GHALCA, presented by the Vice President. Next time the friends should look at the schedule of J.A Kuffour, The President.

K. Kofi Abanga in Kumasi , Abanga Kofi in Accra . He came from nowhere to spark controversy. (The first player ever to hold a press conference for 2 great clubs in less than 16 hrs). He was the only never say die in Hearts this season. This is a “dirty diamond” which needs to be polished. Where are the miners?

L. Local Coaches in the league allowed exciting Talkative Coach Isaac Boateng to steal the show. Had press conferences to explain his game plan 4:2:4, 0:1:9:1, 7:3:1, 10:1. some kind of Algebra. Let’s promote that model project.

M. “Mao Tang” sorry Mercy Tagoe. She will go down in referees Records Book as the 1st Female Referee to shoe her Karate expect next season. We might move from Black Belt to Red Belt.

N. Naa Bekoe- Naa Coleman, Naa Kotoko - Naa Cup, Naa Oly - Naa “Delegation” “(apologies to Uncle Dan Lartey) Naa Hearts - Naa 10-10-10, Nice Slogan – Red Card Outside Ghana.

O. Only Olympics can explain. How wonderful they are in terms of doing what they do in Ghana football. Oly – Dade, Oly – Gbogbo Oly – Rosalinda………

P. PLB did a good job but they still want to change their name back to the Premiership League Board. Like we change Ministers and Ministries. The only league in the World where the winners do not receive their trophy after the final match. Record.

Q. The leader of the Last Quarter on the league Table Hasmal had more goals that Hearts of Oak who placed 8th. “Do the Do”

R. Referees. Some turned Policemen, some karatist, market men and women (How much will you pay) let respect the men and women in this noble profession. 75%

S. Silas Tetteh, the Assistant Specialist got his breakthrough at last a “Contract signed” coach of the U20 for how long Mr. SPECIAL ASSISTANT.

T. Tigo – Kotoko great Collaboration which can win AGRAG or Music Awards. Let the other clubs learn from them now you can rhyme like this, I support Kotoko, I use Tigo, I want to wear lotto?

U. Under achievers Liberty Professionals when are they going to translate their scientific ways into winning silverwares?

V. Victor Abramovich set a record for being the first CEO of a club to show his weapon at a Stadia. Ahiakpovich should be careful a stray bullet can kill the lion.

W.Wining at all cost. Reason why the league does not record much away wins because if you want to avoid relegation win all home matches at all cost. Do and die.

X. The X-factor (Juju) ways and means is still taking centre stage. This season it was blue and cloth. Hi, Shasha Quaye

Y. Tema Youth, Yes Talking. Tema Youth no doubt they went in for a talkative coach. They did the talking which made some of the fixtures exciting. The SWAG, PLB, should have an award for Talkative club & coach otherwise it will be difficult for Tema Youth and their coach to win any Silverware.

Z. Zaytuna, Light Upon Light. But the light did not shine. The team is always metamorphosing from one stage to the other. First it was Stay Cool – Relegated, came into the premiership through the back door and change to Zaytuna but the light was not upon them.
