Ghana defender Jerry Akaminko says he is happy after recovering fully from injury after picking a career threatening knee injury three years ago.

Prior to the 2014 World Cup in Brazil, Akaminko suffered a horrific in Ghana’s friendly game against Holland.

That injury prevented the former Kpando Hearts of Lions guardsman from the playing the World Cup. He was then out of action for the 2014/15 season.

He started playing active football in the second half of the 2015/2016 season with Turkish side, Eskisehirspor.

And with Akaminko’s performance in the just ended season he has been called into the Black Stars ahead of the four-time African champions 2019 AFCON qualifier against Ethiopia.

However, last Wednesday was exactly three years Akaminko got injured in the friendly game against Holland and he took to social media to recollects that sad day.

“31.05.2014 – Holland vs Ghana is a day I’ll never forget. Not only did it make me a stronger person, I also learnt that what’s for you will not pass you by,” the 29 year old defender stated.

“31.05.17 and I’m enjoying my football and called back to the Ghana national team. I thank God for his continued blessing and guidance. More to come #NeverGiveUp #JAKA ????????,” he added.
