Chairperson of the Police Ladies FC, ACP Lydia Donkor has heaped praises on the Ghana Football Association (GFA) for supporting clubs with GHS 10,000 for preparatory purposes and 30 footballs for training.

ACP Donkor who doubles as head of Legal and Prosecution for the Greater Accra Region, says what the Ghana FA did for Women football is unprecedented in the history of the sport.

Speaking to Michael Oduro on Metro TV’s Sports Direct, the ACP highlighted the intervention of the FA and why they are worthy of praise.

“All clubs received thirty footballs to help with their training and all-women clubs, in addition, got Ghc 10000 and 30 footballs for training purposes.

“Again more than thirty people who are part of the women’s league board got appointments to serve on the GFA committees.

“I believe all teams have their sources of income in running the affairs of the clubs but, if something comes from the GFA to complement our efforts, then it’s a really good call.

“Football is an expensive sport, you have to cater for the basic needs of the players and all these require resources hence any support from the GFA is really appreciated and welcome.

The ACP also called on the clubs not depend solely on the FA but projects and brand their clubs properly and they will see the progress of the club.

“All clubs have owners and executives who are tasked to see to the well being of the clubs.

“Football is a money-making entity so if you project it properly, financially and brand it very well you are going to see the progress of the club.

“You can’t expect the GFA to support you fully hence if you are really serious and want to advance in the league, you wouldn’t sit to be spoofed by the GFA.”
