Kwadwo Baah Agyemang, Board Chairman of the National Sports Authority, has posited that monies expended on the Senior National team over the years should not be seen as resources cast down the drain.

“It is not like government is wasting money on the Black Stars because those monies are building up people, individuals and talents which will be reaped soon,” he pointed out.

The former Member of Parliament for Asante Akyem North, who expressed deep regret at the team's inability to break the over three decades old jinx of not being able to annex the elusive African Cup, sought to dispel the notion that it was a deliberate act on the part of a team with no conscience to put up such a dismal performance at this year's tourney.

“It is painful that Ghana as a state spent a lot of money on the 2019 AFCON tournament but could not win the cup through a painful exit, even though we gave the playing team the best preparation needed,” he said on UTV’s ‘Adekye Nsroma’ programme.

The NSA Board Chairman revealed that the ministry, together with other stakeholders in the sports industry, is set to "hold series of meetings to re-structure the way forward for the Black Stars", and knows fully well the "outcome will not favour certain members of the playing body, especially the old players" in the team.
