Abbey, Pappoe influenced media to demand AFCON 2015 budget - Manu

Football Administrator, Kofi Manu popularly known as Blue Blue claims Ghana FA Executive Committee members Randy Abbey and Fred Pappoe and some politicians have been influencing some journalists to demand details on the Black Stars budgets and expenditure at tournaments from Sports Ministers live on radio.

Following their reported fall-out with FA Boss Kwesi Nyantakyi after the 2010 World Cup, former Black Stars Management Committee Chairman Fred Pappoe and ex-FA spokesperson Randy Abbey were denied the authority to handle any senior national team duties, leading to Mr. Manu’s claim that the disgruntled duo have been using the media to set an agenda against the FA and Sports Ministry’s management of the Black Stars.

“This issue of Sports Ministers being called on radio to reveal the Black Stars budget only started in 2014. In 2006 and 2010, there was nothing like that because the people like Randy Abbey and Fred Pappoe, who were in key positions were happy. Now, they are no longer on the management committee so they have been influencing the media to question the Sports Ministry about the Black Stars budgets,” Mr. Manu told Montie FM on Saturday morning.

It will be recalled that Adom FM’s Morning Show host Captain Smart interviewed Sports Minister Mahama Ayariga live on radio, demanding the details of the Black Stars budget for the 2015 Africa Cup of Nations and the expenses of the team but the politician told him he was asking a “useless question.”
