Former Asante Kotoko SC attacker Abdul Fatawu Safiu has praised former boss CK Akonnor on his appointment as the head coach of the Ghana national team.
Safiu worked with Akonnor in the 2018/2019 season as the Porcupine Warriors reached the group stages of the CAF Confederation Cup.
Safiu netted 10 goals to help Akonnor's side to win the NC Special Competition Tier 1 in 2019.
The ex-Ghana captain was appointed as head coach of the Black Stars in January 2020 following the contract expiration of Kwasi Appiah.
"I am not surprised he is now the coach of the Black Stars. CK Akonnor is a very good coach and very disciplined," he said.
"I don’t think if you are not doing a good thing he is going to give you the chance to play but if you are doing the right thing he would always motivate you to do it and even if you are doing it right he will tell you that’s not enough,"
"He always wants the best out of you so you can give him the results he want."
Safiu is currently plying his trade at Swedish side Trelleborgs IF and will be eyeing a place in the next Black Stars call up.
