Abedi Pele Refuses To Take Credit For Nania Historic Feat

Club owner and coach Abedi Pele refused to take the credit after Nania became the first club in outside the top-flight to win the Ghana FA Cup.

The legend coached the side to beat giants Kotoko 1-0 in the final on Sunday to complete a historic campaign.

The three-time African Player of the Year award winner, who formed the team ten years ago, coached the side to victory.

Many have praised him for leading the side from the obscurity of the second tier league to the giants status they have acquired after the win.

But Abedi insists the players must take the credit as they have worked hard to ensure the victory over Kotoko.

“I feel very good. The credit its not for me, it goes to the players,” the three-time African Player of the Year award winner said.

“They’ve been training very hard and today their prayers have been answered.

“I am really thrilled.”

Abedi says they were tactically superior to the side coached by Serbian manager Bogdan Korak.

“We were tight in the defence. Kotoko is a great team and it is hard to beat them,” Abedi said.

“Tactical awareness made us win. We didn’t anticipate winning but the better team won,” he added.

Nania will represent Ghana in the Confederation Cup next year.
