Former Black Stars defender, John Paintsil says Ghanaian legends Abedi Pele and Tony Yeboah were his role model when he was growing up as a footballer.

Pele is regarded as one of the greatest African footballers of all-time. He played for several European clubs and found his fame in the French Ligue

“ Tony Yeboah and Abedi Pele were my greatest inspiration when I followed them closely and they were a great model for me growing up a footballer I always took inspiration from that to inspire my career,” John Paintsil exclusively told Rabbi Humphrey on Ahenmman Mu Nsem on Accra-based Kingdom FM 107.7

According to John Paintsil, Pele and Tony Yeboah are footballers he took inspirations from as a player and that he models his game on that of the three-times African Footballer of the year and the former Bundesliga Kingpin.

According to the former West Ham United, the iconic midfielder echoed his affection for his compatriot at the foetal stages of his personal career.

He, however, confirmed the take-over of Wa All Stars, previously owned and bankrolled by former Ghana FA President Kwesi Nyantakyi.

Paintsil makes this move after months of negotiations and agreements on modalities for the take-over.

The Former Ghana international John Paintsil is currently the head coach of Wa All-Stars in the country’s Premier League.
