Head coach of Asante Kotoko, Kjetil Zachariassen, has defended his under fire striker George Abege after his side 2-0 win over Etoile Du Sahel in the CAF Champions League.
The lanky striker is yet to find the back of the net for the Porcupine Warriors since joining the club in July.
George Abege’s name was the surprised name on the teamsheet when the coach announced his line up for the game against Etoile last Sunday.
And despite playing the entire duration of the game, some section of the fans were not happy with his output and are calling for the coach to drop him from the next game.
But speaking to the media after the game, Zachariassen insisted he is happy with the player’s performance, adding that the former Kariobangi Sharks striker has improved compered to when he joined the club two months ago.
“Most people want to see Abege jumping and heading balls, that notwithstanding I’m very happy about his performance both in games and during training sessions.
“Abege has played as one striker all his life so he needs time to adapt to our play. He has developed so much because from when he came till now, he is a different person, just wait and you will see Abege scoring”
Etoile Du Sahel will host the Porcupines in the second leg at Sousse on Saturday, September 28.
