Aboakyer Open Golf Championship tees off at Winneba

Accra, April 27, GNA--This year's Aboakyer Open Golf Championship tees off at the Windy Bay Golf Club Course at Winneba on Saturday, May First.

A spokesman for the Club who announced this in Accra on Tuesday, said the one-day 18-hole Stableford competition is open to amateur golfers throughout the country and is being sponsored by Ghana Breweries Limited.

He said more than 100 golfers are expected to participate in the event which shall be played under the rules of the Royal Ancient Golf Club of Scotland and the local rules of the Windy Bay Golf Club. Five prizes will be awarded in the Men's division which will feature crack golfers like Phil MacCaulley, holder of the Ghana Open Cup, Samuel Adetola, Captain of the Achimota Golf Club, Nick Smallman, Albert Brock and K.K. Pumpuni, while two prizes will be competed for in the Ladies section..

Professor Michael Ben-George, President of the Ghana Golf Association, will perform the ceremonial tee-off. 27 April 04
