Immediate past Chairman of the Premier League Board (PLB), Mr. Abra-Appiah Welbeck has rubbished rumours that the PLB has proposed January 10th as the date for the commencement of the 2015/16 Premier League.
Contrary to the December 20th date proposed by the President of the Ghana Football Association, reports emerged in the media that the Premier League Board has opted for January 10th instead of the date proposed by the Ghana FA boss.
But the former Chairman of the PLB says Ghanaians should treat the report as a mere rumour as the PLB has not taken any such decision.
Speaking to Ghanasoccernet.com, Mr. Abra-Appiah questioned the source of the reports and said it is only out there to compel authorities to confirm the actual date.
“Treat it as a rumour. Sometimes some people put certain words in the public domain just to compel officialdom to come out to confirm or deny them. I don’t know where it is coming from but it cannot be true,” Mr. Abra-Appiah said.
“We have held meetings on several occasions and nothing of that nature has ever cropped up. In fact the 20th December date was proposed by the President which has not been objected. So it cannot be true,” he added.
This mean that the 2015/16 Premier League season is expected to commence of the 20th December and clubs are seriously preparing for the league.
