Assistant coach of Bechem United, Seth Osei Wire, has explained why his team suffered defeat to Hearts of Oak in their Ghana Premier League clash.

The Hunters, who have been struggling to find their rhythm in the ongoing campaign, succumbed to a 2-0 defeat to the Ghanaian giants in matchday 3 of the domestic top-flight, held at the University of Ghana Stadium.

Hearts of Oak commenced the 2024/25 campaign on a poor note, suffering back-to-back losses.

However, a strong performance against Bechem United turned their fortunes around.

The first half of the game ended in a goalless draw, as both teams struggled to find the back of the net in the thrilling encounter.

Goals from Ranford Mensah and striker Hamza Issah were enough for the Phobians to secure maximum points in the thrilling clash.

Speaking after the game, Osei Wire blamed the absence of regular players for his team's defeat to the former Ghana Premier League champions.

“It was a very difficult game. Honestly, Hearts of Oak played well. We missed the services of some regular players and that affected us,” he said.

Bechem United are missing the services of several key players, including captain Francis Twene and Seth Kwadwo, due to injury setbacks.

Hearts will now look to build on this win as they travel to the Ashanti Region to face Nations FC in their next match.

Bechem, meanwhile, remain winless after three rounds and are yet to score a goal
