Accra Celtic FC are to tour South Africa and Jordan as part of their preparations for the next soccer season and also to establish better links with clubs in the two countries.
The Greater Accra 2nd division outfit have just completed their league campaign as they competed in Zone Six of the regional league, just missing out on a place in the middle league that leads to qualification to the fist division.
However, Club President, Richard A. Yeboah described their season as a very successful one considering the challenges they faced and added that many clubs would not have survived such intimidation from match officials and that of fans of opposing teams.
?This season has ended for us and we need to plan for the next campaign which is reason why we have decided to start early so as to not to be taken by events next season?, he said.
He admits that to make stronger impact next season, the team needs planning of the highest order and undertaken this tour, would expose the boys to a different form of competition that he adds, should help them in their cause make a strong impact in the league next season.
The team will depart Accra for South Africa on May 30, 2012, and will stay in the rainbow nation for a couple of weeks, playing against established club sides like Kaizer Chiefs, Pirates and AmaZulu among others.
After the South African experience, the team will head to Jordan for a similar exercise Orlando where they will engage in a series of trail games with top clubs in the country before returning to Ghana.
The tour will also afford the team to market some of their best potentials on the international stage and Mr. Yeboah admits that they will not stand in the way of players who will catch the eye of teams in South Africa and Jordan.
In the past on similar tours, Accra Celtic FC have been able to conclude deals for some players in South Africa, Egypt, Thailand and Japan.
On their return to Ghana, the management of the team hopes the experienced gained would aid the boys to put up a good display next season as they aim to make it to the second tier of Ghana football.
