Mr Charles Osei Assibey, President of the Ghana Armwrestling Federation (GAF), has said Ghana is ready to host this year’s Africa Armwrestling Championship in Accra, slated from the 26th -29th July.
Mr Assibey in an interview with GNA Sports indicated that the Local Organizing Committee (LOC) and Ghana Armwrestling Federation are prepared to host Africa and he believes this year’s championship would be one of the most memorable events.
“Africa is coming, Accra is ready and we at LOC and Ghana Armwrestling Federation, we believe that we are not just organising an Africa Championship but we are organising an event and we would make it a solid and enviable one in Ghana,” he said.
According to him, the championship was set to be graced by some dignitaries who would be arriving into the country, amongst them would be, the secretary for the World Armwrestling Federation from Romania, the World Champion 70kg Women from Czech Republic, the President for Africa Armwrestling Federation and the head referee as well.
“On the 24th the secretary for the world Armwrestling Federation would arrive in Ghana from Romania, we are also expecting the World Champion 70kg Women from the Czech Republic.
“The President for Africa Armwrestling Federation would be in Ghana on the 26th of July, the Secretary General would be in Ghana on the 24th and the head referee would also be in Ghana on the 24th , he indicated.”
Mr Assibey explained that, they are left with less than 15 days to the Championship and were still calling for support from other cooperate bodies and the general public in other to host a successful event.
