Accra's National Cycling Tour ends well

The Ghana Cycling Federation organized a National Cycling Tour of Accra and Ghana Cycling awards from 15th – 17th December, 2017.

They held a seminar for all stakeholders at the sports hall of Accra Sports Stadium .

The agenda for on the day was;

a. The structure of National Federation and the role of National teams.

b. Go through constitution, regulations and role in the country

c. Opened discussion and solution to the Cyclist, Clubs and federation to sponsorship

On 16th December, 2017-they held a prologue race covered 3.3km in the morning at the Accra Sports Stadium.

In the afternoon, individual time trial covering 42km behind Burma Camp.
And on the final day ,which was 17th December, 2017.They held the Road Race covering 120km at Mantse Agbonaa.

Overall winners in the the various categories were as follows:

Best Female – Clementina Ayoung

Most Promising female – Clementina Ayoung

Promising team – River Pack (B. A.)

Fair Play – Abdul Rahman

Oldest Jersey – Emmanuel Amoako (River Pack-B. A)

Most Promising Male – Kwabena Martins

Best Fighter – Anthony Boakye

Best Youngest – Frank Akuffo

Stage Winners

1st – Frank Akuffo

2nd – Abdul Razak

3rd – Prosper Agbo

King of the Mountain – Anthony Boakye

Best Team – River Pack (B. A)

Green Jersey – Frank Akuffo

Yellow Jersey – Frank Akuffo

Each of the winners received cash prize.

The president of Ghana Cycling Federation, Mohammed Sahnoon expressed his excitement about the whole competition and believes what they (GCF) has invested in the past has now paid off.

Sahnoon in an interview with Happy FM said, , “I am very impressed, i’m happy that we were able to finish the race without any incidents. We put together in preparation towards the Commonwealth games “

Our investment in the Cycling has paid off because the person (Frank Akuffo) who won the biggest prize (Yellow Jersey) is someone whom we sent to South Africa to train. He is back and you can see the effect of having good training and good cycling facilities, so it’s very encouraging.”
