Acquah in Black Stars coaches' plans

Ghana assistant coach Kwesi Appiah claims the technical team is watching Palermo midfield sensation Afriyie Acquah.

The 19-year-old midfield talisman whose qualities have been likened to Chelsea star Michael Essien declared his intention of gate crashing the Black Stars squad last week.

He has had some good games this season in the Serie A after a successful debut season under ex-coach Delio Rossi who has now joined Fiorentina.

Acquah played in the 2011 African Youth Championship qualifiers but was not released by his club for the finals which was hosted by South Africa.

He has been pencilled as one for the future and Black Stars second-in-command Kwesi Appiah is raving about the qualities of the "ball holder".

"We have been monitoring him even from the time of Milo. He is a fantastic player and I think he could fit into the field," he told a local radio station.

"If he doesn't make the squad for the Nations Cup, then after that he will he invited.

Acquah has featured in all but one of Palermo's matches in the Italian Serie A.

He has also featured in high profile games against AC Milan and Inter Milan.
