Adam Kwarasey eager to avoid conceding silly goals in MLS

Ghana goalkeeper, Adam Larsen Kwarasey is seeking to build an effective chemistry with the defenders of Portland Timbers to avoid conceding “silly” goals during the MLS season.

The 27-year-old shot-stopper was criticized for coming way off his line at several points in their 1-0 loss to Vancouver Whitecaps in a club friendly last Sunday, exposing the goal-area.

The ex-Stromgodset glovesman is seeking a comeback into the starting lineup against Norwegian Tippeligaen side Stabaek on Saturday after he was replaced by Andrew Weber in the 1-1 draw with Chicago Fire on Wednesday night.

“When you come off your line like I do a lot, the chemistry or connection has to be perfect because sometimes it can cause some silly situations but we will go fast and I think it's easy to adjust to the way I play for the defenders,” Kwarasey said.

Kwarasey and his Portland Timbers are preparing for their American Major League Soccer (MLS) opener against Western Conference rivals Real Salt Lake next Saturday at the Providence Park.
