The Governance and Administration Committee, chaired by Lawyer Kweku Eyiah during the 22nd Ordinary Congress of the Ghana Football Association proposed that the membership of the FA Executive Committee should be increased from 22 to 23 in order to accommodate a female member.

Though Madam Leanier Addy is serving on the Executive Committee, the Lawyer explained that, she is on the committee on the ticket of the constituent bodies and not on the ticket of women football.

The call by the committee is to empower more women to have interest in association football and also to hold top positions at the FA.

The statutes of the GFA should be revised thoroughly but we are of the opinion that, the FA as the matter of course, should expand the executive committee as it is constituted from 22 to 23 by adding a female member," Lawyer Eyiah said.

We are saying that because at the time the statutes was drafted i.e ten years ago, Women Football was not as it is today. But now we have the Women's League, Women referees, Coaches, Women Administrators, Footballers and what have you."

"So we think that women play an integral part of our football. Initially they were brought together by the constituent bodies. Even though you see Leanier appearing here, she is not here because for women, she is here because of the constituent bodies," he emphasized.

"We think that if it is separated and we have female representation, it will not only serve the purpose of gender balance but the FA will follow what FIFA has done, and that is what we are craving for .

The Ghana FA Ordinary Congress came to an end on Tuesday with members of the Ex. Co all sworn into office but for RFA representatives of the Northern, Central and Volta Regions.
