Addy Wins Championship

Edward Addy, a member of the Achimota Golf Club, scored 42 points to win the 2001 Golden Tulip Hotel golf championship played at the Achimota Golf Course in Accra on Saturday.

The competition, which formed part of activities marking the 10th

anniversary celebration of the Hotel, saw Francis Etwi-Barimah placing second with 41 points.

A.A. Hodgewoning beat Richard Aziamakpor and Theophilus de Boer on countback to place third after they had all scored 40 points while F.A. Asogba took the sixth position with 39 points.

In the Ladies event, Margaret Anderson won with 41 points while Mary Asafu-Adjaye took the second position with 40 points with Neleki de Boer taking the third position with 39 points.

Suzie Abaloo placed fourth with 38 points while Victoria Apomasu came fifth with 37 points.

The one-day 18-hole stable-ford competition opened to amateur golfers from Achimota, Tema, Celebrity and Air-force Base golf clubs, attracted 150 participants.

Mr Gilbert Morgan, Captain of the Achimota Golf Club, commended the Hotel for its immense contribution towards the development of sports.

Mr Thom Sheriff, General Manager of the Hotel said the hotel will continue to play its role to support health, education, tourism, culture and sports.
