Aduana Stars’ General Secretary collapses

from assault by own keeper

Strange things they say will not stop happening in our domestic football and sometimes one wonders if it is only in the Ghanaian Premier League that a player could beat his own team official.

Former Tano Bofoakwa goalkeeper Ransford Cudjoe who is currently plying his trade with Dormaa Ahenkro based Aduana Stars, yesterday, like a lion who is hungry for its prey and in Mike Tyson fashion, brutally beat and assaulted his club’s General Secretary.

Frank Kumi narrated his ordeal to SportsInGhana.com by his hospital bed with much pain amid referring to the visible bruises all over his mouth.

Mr. Kumi said he was mercilessly beaten by Cudjoe because the goalkeeper believes the Secretary is responsible for his being put up for transfer since the transfer letter bears his signature.

However, the Secretary who happens to have also been a childhood teacher of Cudjoe in Form 2 at the Dormaa Methodist Junior High School, says he has rather been begging for forgiveness for the goalkeeper who has been transfer-listed by the Glo Ghana Premier League champions for ill-discipline.

Mr. Kumi disclosed toSportsInGhana.com that he had personally apologized to bigwigs of Aduana on Cudjoes behalf that he was a good keeper.

The case has been reported to the Police pending the arrest of Ransford Cudjoe for assault but one of the football icons in the Ghanaian league, Mr Pobea has advised Mr. Kumi to lodge a complaint at GFA Status Committee for the goalkeeper to be punished.

Aduana Stars’ right back Godfred Saka on Monday returned from Greece after embarking on a one-month trial with Greek side Panionios.

SportsInGhana.com can reveal that negotiations are still ongoing with the player’s agent but the Greek club’s officials are keen on securing the signature of Saka for the up-coming season.

The player is expected to join his Ghanaian champion colleagues soon for the on-going GALCA special top 4. He told SportsInGhana.com that he is looking forward to a better deal after the negotiations.

“I will continue to play for Aduana if the deal fails, I will try as much as possible to perform well to reach their target come next season,” he said.

Saka is keen on displaying what he says is his current impressive form in the Top 4 competition and the league itself in a bid to attract the eyes of other clubs.

The top 4 is expected to continue on Thursday August 19 and ends on August 22 which is likely Saka will feature in those matches.
