Outspoken coach J.E Sarpong has heralded Aduana Stars as "worthy champions" of the just ended Ghana Premier League title.

The Fire Boys clinched their second Ghana Premier League title in eight years fortnight ago after collecting 57 points from 30 matches in the campaign, six points more than close contenders WAFA.

Some advocates of the Ghana League have downplayed their championship title, claiming that the Dormaa-based outfit intimidated clubs at their Nana Agyemang Badu Park during the campaign.

But veteran trainer J.E Sarpong believes otherwise as he claimed Aduana showed traits of a championship winning team during their pre-season exchanges.

"Aduana are worthy champions because I remember watching one of their pre-season games in Sunyani and also in the G8 competition and I saw the hunger in them that were very prepared for the league," Sarpong declared on Happy FM.

"I even said on one of the local TV stations before the commencement of the league that Aduana Stars may clinch the championship but tipped WAFA to give them run for their money and also touted Hearts of Oak as a third force for the title, so I wasn't surprised when they won because from day one I knew the quality they were coming into the league with but as to whether they will be able to perform in Africa is another thing."
