Afrancho Circuit wins Inter-Schools Sports Festival

Trabuom (Ash), Aug 8, GNA - Afrancho Circuit bagged 125 points to win the Bosomtwe-Atwima-Kwanwoma District Inter-Circuit Basic Schools Sports Festival at Trabuom.

The eight Circuits of the District competed in soccer, athletics, table tennis, volleyball and netball in the two-day competition. Kuntanase Circuit placed second with 120 points and with Twedie Circuit following at the third position with 112 points.

Mrs Dora Doris Amaniampong, the District Director of Education who addressed the closing ceremony of the competition, called on the sportsmen and women to desist from taking drugs.

She also asked them to refrain from early sex and other social vices, which she noted could destroy their future and urged them to rather concentrate on their education, which held the key to their future.

Dr Agatha Akua Bonney, the District Director of Health Services earlier presented eight footballs to the District Directorate of Education for presentation to the eight participating Circuits of the sports festival.

The District Health Management Team (DHMT) used the occasion to educate the large gathering of pupils on the dangers of HIV/AIDS, drug abuse and other health-related issues.

Mrs Amaniampong thanked the Ghana Health Service (GHS) for its support and pledged to collaborate with the DHMT to educate the people on issues relating to health and the proper upkeep and development of especially children.
