African American Golf tees off at Achimota

Accra, Oct.18, GNA - The Third Annual African-American Invitational Classic Golf tournament tees off at the Achimota Golf Course in Accra on Saturday, October 29.

Mr Masao Meroe, Secretary of the Ghana Golf Association (GGA) who announced this in Accra on Tuesday, said the One-day 18-Hole Stableford competition is to be jointly sponsored by Milicom Ghana Limited, The Chiropractic and Wellness Centre, Universal Wireless Limited, Aviance Ghana and Unique Trust Financial Services. He said that the event is aimed at strengthening the existing cordial relationship between Africa and America. The tournament is also aimed at promoting friendship among the African-American community in Ghana as well as promoting the professional contacts between the African-Americans and the African business communities.

Ms Pamela Ethel Bridgewater, the U.S. Ambassador to Ghana will present the Ambassador's trophy to the winner of the competition. Mr Meroe said there would be a caddies competition on Friday, October 28 to be followed by an international friendly competition between a Ghanaian select team and a Nigeria delegation on the same day October 28.

There would also be a free golf clinic to be hosted at the Tema Golf course and a youth tournament on Saturday afternoon for kids between the ages of six to 12 years at Achimota.
