Afum satisfied with debut Euro season

Ghanaian striker Samuel Afum is delighted with his performance for Young Boys on his debut season in a top-flight European league center.

The 22-year-old moved to the Swiss Super League from Egyptian Premier League side FC Smouha in January and overly impressed.

He netted five times in 13 starts, provided three assists and completed 16 games for Young Boys who finished 7th.

Afum’s scoring form in his last eight games dominated the headlines in the Swiss press with his strong performance against FC Basel also earning him plaudits.

The former Hearts of Oak attacker admits was an amazing debut season for him.

“Playing here was a bit tricky at the start because it was a new environment, but thank God I was able to settle quickly and adapt to the system,” he told Ghanasoccernet.com.

“The weather was terrible when I first got here which was quite challenging, but I dealt with it well I guess.

“Next season will present a new challenge and I have to focus and keep my form and seek to improve more,” he added.

Since moving in January, the former Ghana U23 goal poacher lasted a total of 1072 minutes and emerged as the best performer for Young Boys scoring more goals than any player in their strike force.
