Agomeda wins Shai Osudoku Eid-ul-Fitr Gala

Accra, Oct 5, GNA - Agomeda emerged champions of the first ever Shai Osudoku Eid-ul-Fitr soccer gala competition held on Saturday at Manya, in the Greater Accra Region.

Richard Onumah's second half strike ensured a lone goal victory for the Agomeda side at the expense of Akuse in the final amidst cheers and jubilation at the heavily attended Manya Sports Complex. The one-day gala which was sponsored by Mr Daniel Dugan, Deputy Minister of Women and Children's Affairs and an aspiring Member of Parliament for the Shai Osudoku Constituency, was to climax this year's Eid-ul-Fitr Ramadan Festival of Moslems in the area. Mr Dugan advised the youth to desist from social vices and lend their support to developmental activities in their respective communities.

Seven communities within the electoral area competed in the event expected to be held annually.

Agomeda received a trophy, a football and some religious materials while Akuse were also rewarded with religious materials and a football. The other participants Ayikuma, Doryumu, Dodowa, Asutuare and Manya each received a football for participating in the gala. The event was graced by Nene Tei Djahene Korabo IV, Senior Asafoatse of Shai and Divisional Chief of Manya, Nana Ayerko Blemayo II, Queen Mother of Manya and leaders and members of the Moslem community. 05 Oct. 08
