Ghana goalkeeper Daniel Agyei has backed Maxwell Konadu to guide the Local Black Stars to win the 2014 CHAN tournament following their opening day victory against Congo.
Theophilus Anoobah’s 34th minute strike gave the Ghanaians a perfect start to their campaign at the Free State Stars stadium in South Africa on Monday.
The Local Black Stars were not overly impressive as they did not seem to piece three or four decent passes together. They managed to scrap through a goal with a performance which has left much to be desired.
However, the 24-year-old, who plays for Free State Stars, is backing the ex-Kotoko trainer to transform the team into a championship side.
“It’s only the first game and so I believe they will get their rhythm on. I trust the coach to do a good job on this team,” he said
“He is tactically a genius and so I expect more from him. Ghana is known to be slow starters and so I wasn’t too surprised with the scoreline.
“The most important thing was to get the three points, which we did and so let’s just focus on the next game and see how it goes.
“But I have confidence in the coach and the players and believe that they can deliver the title for us.”
The Local Black Stars will shift focus to their next game against group leaders Libya on Friday.
