Former national team striker Augustine Ahinful is convinced Black Stars coach Goran Stevanovic should have no problem at all dropping New Edubiase striker Emmanuel Baffour when he prunes his provisional 25-man squad to 23.
As per CAF regulations, Plavi is expected to name his final squad by the end of tomorrow's deadline of January 11. Ahinful says the Glo Ghana Premier League's leading scorer lacks the experience to make Ghana's party for Gabon / Equatorial Guinea 2012.
"I think it's too late for him to be included in the squad. He's a young player coming up and we have to be patient to groom him. This is the Nations' Cup, not a league game where you play one match and wait for another 6 or 7 days before playing again," Ahinful, now a member of GFA's Technical and Development Committee, told Joy FM.
Ahinful who starred for Ghana in CAN 2000, also brushes aside suggestions that Jordan Ayew is much younger age-wise than the New Edubiase striker he labels 'young'.
He told ALL SPORTS: "You have to look at where Jordan is playing and where Baffour is playing. Has Baffour played in the Champions League?
"So the issue of comparism between Jordan and Baffour holds no water. Even with the Black Stars, Jordan is ahead of him. Jordan has played several times, he even played against Brazil."
