Airtel closes maiden Soccer Clinic in Ghana

Airtel’s maiden Soccer Clinic in Ghana came to an official end on Sunday.

The telecommunication giants in partnership with Arsenal Football Club held a week-long training exercise for U-17 players both in the male and female division.

The playing contingent which had representation from Zambia, Uganda and Nigeria were taken through basic football rudiments in movement, dribbling, passing and shooting at the Lizzy Sports Complex in Accra.

The young talents also had the opportunity to to work with Arsenal coaches and interact with legend Ray Parlour under the partnership agreement.

“I am very happy to have been part of this exercise here on my first visit to Africa,” Parlour said at the closing ceremony.

“I hope you (players) continue on this path and put all that you’ve learnt here into practice.

“I want to thank Airtel also for making all of this possible and hopefully we will be here another time to do this again.”

The soccer clinic forms part of Airtel’s Rising Stars program which saw a Ghanaian U-17 female team emerge champions at the inaugural Inter-country tournament in Kenya last month.
