Black Stars defender Jerry Akaminko has lauded Kwadwo Asamoah’s initiative of supporting prisoners as a way of giving back to society.

The Juventus star on Friday fraternised with inmates of the James Camp Prison in a Republic Day Fun Game.

Other football stars like Jerry Akaminko and Richmond Boakye-Yiadom as well as Music Icons like Kwabena Kwabena and Klala Sole were all around to support the event.

The Ghana and Juventus midfielder donated drinks, foodstuffs, jerseys, an undisclosed amount of cash and promised to transform their disastrous football pitch into an Astroturf.

And Jerry Akaminko has heaped praises on Kwadwo Asamoah for the initiative.

“When Kwadwo called me that he wanted to undertake the venture, I gave him my full support. I was happy because the prisoners are just humans like us,” Akaminko said.

“It is always advisable to move closer to the destitute and depressed in society and give them hope and confidence for the future.

“Not all of them are imprisoned because of bad conducts. Many are here because of some little mistakes they did, and we must let them feel that it is not over,” Jerry added.

Jerry then encouraged other stars to take up the initiative and support other centres to make their stardom important.
