Akaminko rooting for Stars against Sudan

He may have been overlooked yet again by Black Stars selectors, but Turkey based defender Jerry Akaminko tells ALL SPORTS he is fully behind the national team as they tackle Sudan in the decisive 2012 African Nations’ Cup qualifier on Saturday.

“Nothing is going to change the fact that I’m Ghanaian and I will always support the national team because I am happy whenever they win. Everybody knows that we did very well at the World Cup and it’s important that we win the next African Cup of Nations so definitely Sudan must fall.

“I’m with the team in spirit and praying that they get the needed result to qualify,” Akaminko exclusively told us via phone.

The former Heart of Lions captain was on 90 minutes action for new club Manisaspor on Sunday as they secured their first win of the Turkey Super League season and reflects that all will be well as the 2011/12 season unfolds.

He told ALL SPORTS: “It’s alright, everything is going well and I’m having a good time here. The team is a good side with big ambitions.

“We’ve just had 5 games with 29 more to go. I don’t want any regrets that I came to Manisaspor and I am confident it will be well in the end.”
