Akuafo win Cowbell Inter-Hall Cross Country

Akuafo Hall scored 226 points to win the maiden University of Ghana Cowbell Inter-Hall Cross Country competition held at Legon on Friday.

Commonwealth Hall came second with 323 points; Mensah Sarbah Hall was third with 332 points while Legon Hall placed fourth with 355 points.

The competition which was sponsored by Wonder Foods Limited (COWBELL), saw Akuafo winning the Ladies event with 39 points, Volta Hall followed with 47 points, Mensah Sarbah was third with 106 points while Legon Hall took the fourth position with 133 points.

Joseph Swanzy of Sarbah Hall came second with a time of 59.03 minutes while Richard Adopleh of Akuafo took the third position.

Phillis Branattie of Akuafo won the Ladies category with a time of 42.57 minutes, Diana Ahenkora of Volta placed second while Gladys Ganah of Akuafo came third in the 10-kilometre competition.

Professor Kwadwo Asenso-Okyere, Vice-Chancellor of the University of Ghana, praised the competitors for the sportsmanship exhibited throughout the competition.

He called on corporate bodies and organisations to assist the university to build a sports complex.
