Albert Adomah not thinking about next season after side failed to secure promotion

Aston Villa wideman Albert Adomah is only focused on ensuring his side finish in a decent position after they failed to secure promotion to the English top-tier.

Villa, who are lying 12th on the table, will not qualify even if they win their remaining matches.

The side will not be seeking an immediate return to the top-flight after a rather poor campaign by their standard.

And Ghanaian winger Albert Adomah only wants to focus on the remaining games rather than thinking about next season.

He told the club's official website: “I know that fans are already asking questions like ‘Can next season be a special season? Can Villa achieve promotion next season?’

“I’m not thinking about that right now. We’ve still got three games to go and as a professional footballer, it’s up to me and my team-mates to show total focus on the remaining games.

“We want to finish this season strongly. We won’t take our foot off the gas.

“We have three games to go – an important derby match against Birmingham City, which I’m looking forward to and I’m sure the fans are looking forward to also.

“Then it’s Blackburn away and we finish with a home match against the potential champions Brighton.

“These games are what we need to concentrate on now. Then we can look to the summer and after that the challenges of next season when pre-season arrives.”

Adomah has made a significant impact for Villa this season, creating 42 chances and providing ten assists in the Championship.
