Ghana international Alexander Djiku has eulogized Fenerbahce’s character following an impressive win over Alanyaspor in the Turkish Super Lig.
The Black Stars defender was handed a starting role when his outfit cruised to an emphatic 3-0 home win over their opponent on Friday.
Djiku was forced off with a thigh injury in the 61st minute in the much-anticipated clash.
Fenerbahce went to the halftime break with the advantage after finding the match opener in the 43rd minute through Dusan Tadic.
Putting on a stellar performance, the home team added two additional goals in the second half to secure maximum points.
Tadic doubled his side’s advantage in the 65th minute before experienced attacker Edin Dzeko cemented the win in the 67th minute
“Big character from everyone. Well done team. Thanks again for your support until the end” he wrote on Instagram.
The 30-year-old Ghanaian defender had made three appearances in the Turkish top-flight after four games so far this season.
Meanwhile, the highly-rated centre-back has been ruled out of the Black Stars upcoming 2025 Africa Cup of Nations qualifying games against Angola and Niger due to an injury setback.
However, FC Basel’s Jonas Adjetey Adjei has been named as a replacement for Djiku and is set for his first national assignment.
