Amezado, Alian win Samsung golf

Accra, Sep. 22, GNA--E.K. Amezado and Racizac Alian at the weekend won this year's Samsung Open Golf Championship which ended at the Achimota Golf Course in Accra on Sunday.

Amezado scored 80 points, while Alian had 83 points to win the Men's and the Ladies events category in the two-day 36-Hole Scratch competition sponsored by Afko Group of Companies.

Richard Aziamakpor came second with 78 points, Korblah Degbe was third with 76 points, J.K. Kally placed fourth with 74 points, beating George Osei and Aaron Akafo on countback, while Robert Aziamakpor took the seventh position with 73 points.

Mary Asafu-Adjaye took the second position in the Ladies event with 71 points, beating Aneda Ward, Elizabeth Quartey and Suzie Kumassah on countback.

Emos Korblah won the Professionals category with 141 gross, Anthony Amuzu came second with 141 gross, Victor Brave-Mensah placed third with 147 gross, Paul Dossey took the fourth position with 148 gross while Baba Akologo and John Dorman had 151 gross to placed fifth and sixth respectively.

Mr Jake Obetsebi-Lamptey, Minister for Tourism and the Modernization of the Capital City called on Afko Group of Companies to make the competition open to all West African countries.

This, he said, would further strengthen the already existing cordial relationship between countries in the sub-region.

Mr J.J. Cho, Chief Executive Officer of Afko Group of Companies, said hew was very happy about the sportsmanship exhibited during the games and gave the assurance that his company would sponsor the event next year.
