Wafa striker Aminu Mohammed has admitted his happiness following a perfect start to the 2017-18 Ghana Premier League season.

The 17-year-old, who was part of Ghana squad at the Fifa U17 World Cup last year, is leading the top scorer's chart after netting three goals in three games.

“I’m very happy with my performance this season. The goals are coming for me at the right time and it’s been a good start for me,” Aminu said, as quoted by Footballmadeinghana.com

"I can only be grateful to God and my teammates for their support. The most important thing [for me] is to continue scoring in order to help the team to keep winning," he added.

Two of Aminu's goals have come through free-kicks which he says he constantly practices at training.

“I know how to take free kicks. I practice them a lot [at] training. Sometimes, you need luck before you can get the right target. I’m happy that I’m getting luck with the kicks now,” he said.

Aminu caught the eye of Manchester City during the U-17 World Cup and even had trial with the Premier League giants but failed to reach any deal.

“It's true that I had some difficulties with the national U-17 team in India. The tournament didn’t go as expected but I’m not thinking about that anymore. I’m now concentrating on getting better every day in order to help Wafa to achieve our target,” he said.

Wafa are currently sitting second with seven points, two points behind Ashanti Gold and will play Elmina Sharks at the Baba Yara Sports Stadium on Saturday.
