Ghana will field one athlete at the next International Association of Athletics Federation (IAAF) World Athletics Championship (WAC) billed for Moscow, Russia, next month.
The Ghana Athletics Association (GAA), according to information pieced together by GNA Sports has entered Janet Amponsah as the country's sole representative for the biannual meet.
Amposah, who will be competing in the 200m event, will be representing Ghana at this level for the first time in her career.
She competed at the IAAF Junior Championship in Barcelona, Spain, in 2012, where she came fifth after recording her personal best of 23.41 seconds.
The Sports Writers Association of Ghana's (SWAG)'s female athlete of the year, enjoyed an impressive spell last year, bagging two gold medals in 100m and 200m at the inaugural West African Junior Athletics Championship in Abidjan, Ivory Coast and among others.
At the previous event in Daegu, 2011, Ghana entered seven athletes for four events; long jump, heptathlon, 100m and 4x100m.
Meanwhile, officials of the GAA will participate in the August 6-8 IAAF Congress on the sidelines of the championship.
