Anaba eyes CAF Champions League success

Kumasi Asante Kotoko midfielder, Micheal Anaba says their CAF Champions’ League campaign will not be easy but he is counting on the matured and experienced players in the team to help them do well in the competition.

Asante Kotoko storm Africa for the first time in four years after winning the Glo Ghana Premier League last year and will start their journey in the preliminary round of the 17th Edition of Orange CAF Champions League against Sony Nguema of Equatorial Guinea with the first leg at the Baba Yara Stadium on Sunday, 17th February 2013 and the return leg tie in two weeks time.

The former Windy Professionals player told Gbc Ura Radio Sports in Bolgatanga that even though the tie will be a difficult one, he is hopeful Kotoko will beat the Equatorial Guinea side and go far in the prestigious CAF Champions League.

“It will not be easy but as you know this is not the first time a club like Kotoko is taking part in the champion league and I think we also have matured and experienced players in the team which I think us the younger ones will just learn from to give out our best in this competition,” he said.

The 2011/12 Ghana champions ended the first round of the 2012/13 season in 3rd spot with 26 points, four points adrift of table toppers, Medeama Sporting Club.
