Andre Ayew misses out on French League Young Player Award

Ghana midfielder Andre Ayew lost out to PSG’s Mamadou Sakho for the French Ligue 1 Young Player of the Year award.

Sakho, central defender was voted for by the French professional footballer’s union (UNFP) with Marseille.

Ayew had an impressive display with Olympique Marseille and was tipped for the award.

Sochaux’s Ligue 1 assists leader Marvin Martin and Rennes midfielder and France teammate Yann MVila were the other three players nominated for the prestigious award.

Lille playmaker was named player of the year and the club’s tranier Rudi Garcia getting the nod as Coach of the Year.

Olympique Marseille glovesman Steve Mandanda was voted Goalkeeper of the Year:

The awards ceremony was held on Sunday night.
