Annan For Racing Santander?

Primera Liga outfit Racing Santander are looking to beat a host of Premier League clubs to the signing of Ghanaian star Anthony Annan.

Annan trained with Blackburn earlier this month, whilst Arsenal also expressed an interest to take him on trial - but his commitments in the Uefa Cup with Stabaek meant he could not stay in England.

Manchester United, Middlesbrough and Rangers - together with representatives from Blackburn and Arsenal - were all in attendance to see Annan in action on Thursday evening as Stabaek provided a huge shock as they beat Rennes 2-1.

Annan was outstanding for the home side and gave all the English clubs present something to think about, but Racing are looking to steal a march on their rivals and have launched a firm offer.

Skysports.com understands they are now in talks with Annan's parent club Start - who loaned him to Stabaek following their relegation from the top-flight.

AC Milan and Atletico Madrid are also continuing to consider making renewed bids after showing an interest earlier in the year, but Racing are now hoping that they can seal a deal before any other clubs make a firm offer.

Annan has always stated his desire would be to move to England, but he would seemingly have few qualms about moving to Spain.
