Felix Anthonio returned a net score of 146 to win the Giti Tire Celebrity Open Golf Championship, which ended at the Celebrity Golf Course at Sakumono, near Tema on Sunday.

Sampson Asorgba took the second position with 148 net, beating Abubakar Nafiu on count-back while Prince Agyiri placed fourth with 149 net. In the Ladies encounter, Leticia Amponsah-Mensah came first with 144 net, Mercy Wenner came second with 148 net, while Vivian Dyck took the third position with 150 net.

In the Men’s Handicap Group A, Kweku Okyere came first with 135 net, Thomas Komladzei placed second with 141 net while Godfred Mensah placed third with 142 net.

The Group B event saw Joseph Jackson topping with 139 net, whilst Byran Cox came second with 140 net Mike Zhang taking the third position with 144 net while Beningo Mimis came fourth with 147 net.

In the Ladies Group B, Gladys Awuni emerged champion with 144 net, Afia Konadu Agyemang took the second position with 162 net while Helen Appah placed third with 174 net.

Emos Koblah won the Professionalís event with 278 gross, while David Doe took the second position with 280 gross, The two-day 36-Hole Scratch event, which was opened to amateur and professional golfers throughout the country, attracted 150 participants.

Mr Isaac Kwame Asiamah, Minister for Youth and Sports in an address read for him, commended the company for sponsoring the competition. He said the ministry would do everything possible to ensure the promotion and the development of the sport.

Mr Wang Shu, Sales Manager of Giti Tire Ghana, said the company would continue to support the promotion of the game in the ensuing years.
