Ghana would be represented at the Turkish Airline World Golf Cup (TAWGC) by Lady Captain of the Celebrity Golf Club, Helen Appah, in October this year.
She won the slot for the competition, which would be held in the Mediterranean city of Antalya, Turkey, after winning the Ghana qualifiers last Saturday in Accra.
She began the day by playing with handicap 24 and after playing 18-holes; she returned with a score of 37 points to carry the day and the enviable slot for herself.
She took home a trophy, as well as return Business Class flights with Turkish Airlines to the TAWGC, all-expenses-paid stay at the 5-star Titanic Deluxe Belek resort, a two-round Grand Final at Titanic Golf Club and season tickets to attend the Turkish Airlines Open, which will be held at Regnum Carya Golf and Spa Resort, Belek, Antalya.
She will also participate in the TAWGC finale, which presents a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to participate in the Pro-Am of the Turkish Airlines Open for the winner.
Other winners were Geoffrey Avornyotse, who finished second and was tied with Helen Appah on 37points but lost out on a countback. Adelaide Owusu-Agyapong came third with 36points.
The Nearest-to-the-Pin winners were claimed by Aileen Conteh and Jack Yang in their respective female and male categories.
The Turkish Airlines World Golf Cup Amateur Series became the widest reaching in corporate golf in 2017 with almost 8,000 participants contesting a 100-event Qualifying Series, which took place in 60 countries worldwide.
Over previous years, finalists have partnered, among others, Henrik Stenson, Martin Kaymer, Victor Dubuisson, Lee Westwood, Rory McIlroy and 14-time Major Champion Tiger Woods in the pre-tournament Pro-Am.
