Ghana’s talented midfielder of Italian club AC Parma, Stephen Appiah who missed out of Ghana’s team for the on-going African Cup of Nations in Mali because of an injury in his right quadriceps says he’s so unhappy with the situation because he really wanted to play for the nation.
Appiah, who described the tournament as his most important fixture for his country said it was too bad he couldn’t help out. “I'm really disappointed, I was not in Mali. For us Africans, it is an event, and we can't wait for the Cup. Ghana won't play the World Cup, so it was the only chance to make our fans happy."
The 21-year old midfielder was supposed to be one of the top stars in the Ghanaian Team, which managed to qualify to the quarterfinal alongside South Africa from group B, which comprised Burkina Faso and Morocco. He believes that Ghana can still do well even though other top foreign stars missed out of the tournament due to various reasons.
The Ghanaian is of the view that Cameroon, South Africa and hopefully Ghana could win the cup. Ghana would be meeting Nigeria in the quarterfinal match.
Meanwhile, Parma coach, Carmignani, has dropped Appiah from his list of 18 players picked for Friday’s Coppa Italia clash against Brescia.
